Steve Harvey’s Book has been turned into a movie that opened up this weekend.  I applaud Mr. Harvey and the Actors who head lined in the movie for its success; however, this blog is dedicated to my so called Black Community.   “Think Like a Man” brought in an estimated $33 Million within 3 days. An interesting math equation came to my head when I heard those numbers.  The average movie ticket for ...1 individual is approximately $10 (+ / - the venue) $33 Million / $10.00 gives a sum of 3,300,000 who roughly saw the movie this weekend.  98% of that 3.3 million in attendance were Black.  How can we get 3.3 million people to spend an average of $10.00 for a movie that last approximately 1.5 hours but have less than a 15% turn out at the voting polls which are FREE and only last approximately 20 minutes? Not hating on anyone who attended the movie, but it seems to me that we are only interested in those things that make us laugh, chuckle, or glorifies ignorance, instead of life changing Legislature or Legislators, then we complain at the last minute when a man who has been charged with 2nd Degree Murder is set free for less than $20,000 the same weekend the movie comes out! $33 Million would have been a hell of a defense for Troy Davis, Trayvon Martin, Shawn Bell, Howard Morgan, and Jena 6 combined!!! Oh well, “they” like us when we sing, laugh and play, we are only a threat when we……hell, are we ever a threat?
